RIPP Tethers were
developed to increase safety and enable the user to maintain constant
control over the prisoner. Tethers work especially well in conjunction
with the TRANSPORT BELTS during cell extraction and transportation.
The CUFF TETHER is constructed from
double layered, 700 LB tensile strength (1400 LB), polypropylene
webbed belt and has bronze snaps sewn to each end. The DOOR TETHER is
made from polypropylene belting and has a bronze snap on one end and a
permanent loop established through a steel alligator clip at the other
end.
CT Application: With one end snapped to
a fixed point outside the cell door and the other end snapped to the
handcuff chain, have the prisoner put both hands through the
pass-through door AT THE SAME TIME (for your safety). Secure handcuffs
and double lock. When you open the door, the prisoner comes with the
door.
DT Application: Close the loop around
the door knob, and hook the snap to the handcuff chain. With one
officer securing the door open 6" to 8", a second officer can lock and
double lock the cuffs onto the prisoners extended wrists. The prisoner
now comes with the door when it is opened.
When ordering the CT or DT, measure the
distance from where the snap (or loop) will attach to the door (or
knob) to the point where the cuffs will be (add 4" for DT to
compensate for the door knob). That length - 24, 26, 28 inches -
establishes the order control (CT-24, CT-26, CT-28, etc. or DT-24,
etc.)
