Most exterior doors are sold prehung with jambs installed in rough openings. The rough opening is generally two inches (2") wider than the door size and made using a double stud construction.
· AD-300 Single Inswinging. We designed the AD-300 unit with hooks and attachment block centerlines to center on the king stud (the first stud) outside the jamb. Each attachment block is anchored into a king stud using two 5/16" lag bolts to a depth of three inches (3"). This is where the resistance of 5,000 pounds per side comes from.
To size the AD-300 Unit, we need Frame Opening Width which generally defines the size of the door and the location of the rough opening. The rough opening gives us the centers of the king studs for installation.
· AD-350 Double Inswinging. We designed the AD-350 unit with endblocks five inches (5") or seven inches (7") center-to-center. When applying to double residential doors, pay attention to the stile and lock rail. The doors should have an astragal to prevent compromising the Ultra-Dog.
